Before becoming a Pilates instructor, Nanci Perle Kushner attended Syracuse University in Syracuse, New York, where she earned a bachelor of arts in retail and marketing. Nanci Kushner also attended Fordham University in New York City, where she earned a master of science in education.

The master of science in education program at the Fordham University Graduate School of Education is designed to train certified teachers in several specialty areas ranging from childhood and adolescent literacy to early childhood and childhood special education. This specialized training gives certified teachers a wider range of educational and career opportunities.

The MS program in education at Fordham University includes a program curriculum covering theory along with cultural and individual diversity. The courses range from Sociopolitical Dimension in Education and Beginning Literacy Development to Special Education Foundations, Introduction to Research, and Race and Multicultural Education in America. The program qualifies students to receive a master of science in education and is available to both full-time and part-time students, but does not include teacher certification.
