A Cresskill, New Jersey, resident, Nanci Perle Kushner maintains a strong community presence through volunteer work at Englewood Hospital. Nanci Kushner also has a passion for cultural activities and enjoys trying out new restaurants and attending theatrical performances and museum exhibits.

Through February 25, 2018, the Metropolitan Museum of Art is presenting a major retrospective of David Hockney that is uniquely designed as a series of separately curated mini-exhibitions. At the center of the exhibition are large-scale depictions of the pool, garden, and wraparound terrace at Hockney’s home in Los Angeles.

Far from simple depictions of a painter’s life, they incorporate reverse and multiple perspectives in ways that carry on the legacies of Cubism, Fauvism, and Post-Impressionism. The palette expands on one pioneered by Matisse in a way that is vibrantly Hockney’s own and combines expansive colors with “fastidious details.”

As the New York Times puts it, the 80-year-old Hockney imbues his paintings with an exuberant visual sense that captures “forthright joy and forward motion” as he explores how life and art serve to feed each other.

New Jersey resident Nanci Perle Kushner is a fitness instructor and community volunteer who serves on multiple Englewood Hospital committees. Also an avid traveler, Nanci Kushner enjoys taking in movies and theatrical performances, as well as cultural and art exhibits at museums.

In late November, an outdoor installation by artist Erwin Redl opened to the public in Madison Square Park. Incorporating 900 transparent spheres, the work spans the central Oval Lawn and is 180 feet long, 110 feet wide, and 12 feet high The globes are suspended in the air through a steel pole grid and cabling system, with white LED lights embedded in each orb. This creates a “luminous white carpet” that features alternating north-to-south and south-to-north wave pattern sequences.

The digitally sequenced patterns are intended to serve as a source of illumination for the public during winter months. The kinetic movement and repetition techniques that Redl employs are inspired by the Southern California Light and Space movement and are intended by the artist to cause viewers to reassess their typical relationships with light.

Pilates Shown to Be Effective in Treating Lower Back Pain

Pilates

The recipient of a master’s in education from Fordham University, Nanci Perle Kushner is a skilled Pilates instructor who most recently taught at her own studio in Cresskill, New Jersey. Nanci Kushner enjoyed working closely with clients through private, semiprivate, and duet classes to help them achieve their personal goals. Pilates has a wide range of benefits for people who practice it, including helping with lower back pain.

A recent study in Complementary Therapies in Medicine found that Pilates was effective at diminishing pain intensity, minimizing disability, and improving function among individuals with chronic lower back pain. The study, conducted at the University of Jaén, in Spain, involved 98 individuals with chronic lower back pain. The baseline pain level for these participants ranged from 3 to 7 on a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being the most excruciating.

During the study, 34 individuals participated in a Pilates mat class and 34 in a Pilates apparatus group, while 30 people served as a control. Those participating in Pilates classes attended two 50-minute sessions weekly for 12 weeks. Assessments were conducted at baseline, halfway through, and at the end. In the end, the control group saw very little change in pain level, whereas the two Pilates groups reported pain that was about three levels lower.

Basics of the Boxing Stance

Boxing Stance pic

Boxing Stance

A dedicated Pilates practitioner, Nanci Perle Kushner is the former owner of NPK Pilates of Cresskill, New Jersey. Nanci Kushner is also an avid tennis player and enjoys boxing when time allows.

One of the most important processes for the beginner boxer is the development of a basic stance. A good stance will allow you to punch with strength but will also give you the stability necessary for an effective defense. You should be able to stand firm in both situations, while still being mobile enough to evade a punch or move after an opponent.

Because your feet play a key role in developing this level of versatility, experts recommend that you begin developing your stance by learning correct alignment of the toe and heel. Ideally, your feet will be shoulder-width apart, and your forward toe should be on a line with your back heel. Toes should be nearly parallel on the diagonal, which gives your body a slight angle and allows you to defend without being overly exposed.

Your weight should be distributed evenly on both feet, and the knees should be bent. Your back foot should be on the same side of the body as your dominant hand, though both hands should be up and elbows down in a preparatory position. Each of your movements should bring you back to this position, so that you can be ready for the next.

Fighting Pain with Exercise

Nanci Kushner: Basketball Training

Nanci Kushner is a retired educator who resides in Cresskill, New Jersey, which is a borough that is just outside of New York City. Nanci Kushner has many interests that she has had the opportunity to explore now that she has more time for herself, and one of them is basketball. The sport of basketball is a very interesting game for spectators, but for players, it can be a true passion. If you commit yourself to the sport, you have to go the extra mile to hone your skills if you want to be successful at a high level.

Nanci Kushner

Savvy observers like Nanci Kushner know that many students who try out for basketball teams are a bit unpleasantly surprised when they find out what the coaches are expecting from them. Before you even pick up a basketball, you may be required to run a couple of miles before every practice, and this can be a rude awakening. Plus, there are typically going to be wind sprints after every practice when you are already tired.

The running can be grueling, but if you think about it, even if you have some skills, how can you be effective if you are too winded to run up and down the court? If you look at it in the right light, you can learn to enjoy the running and view it as one of the keys to your success as a player. In fact, many players who are seriously committed also run during the off-season. Since Nanci Kushner was a teacher, she has counseled many students about the value of commitment and goal setting. These are qualities that can lead to success in athletics and other aspects of life.

Nanci Kushner: Addressing Tax Concerns

Nanci Kushner has retired from her career as a grade school teacher, and she currently resides in Cresskill, New Jersey. This is a very desirable community that is about 20 miles from New York City. According to the real estate website Trulia.com, the median sale price for a home in Cresskill, New Jersey is approximately $680,000. Given this reality, many people who live in the borough are quite wealthy, and the federal transfer taxes could be a factor for them. At the time of this writing, we have a federal estate tax in place, and there is also a gift tax. These taxes are unified under the tax code, and they come with a 40 percent maximum rate.

Nanci Kushner

Nanci Kushner

There is a federal estate tax exclusion that allows you to transfer a certain amount of money and/or property to others before the estate tax would be applicable. Each year, there are adjustments to account for inflation, but at the present time, the exclusion is $5.45 million. Transfers to anyone, even your children, are potentially taxable, but there is one exception. We have an unlimited marital gift and estate tax deduction in the United States. You can utilize this deduction to transfer unlimited assets to your spouse free of taxation, as long as you and your spouse are American citizens.

Cresskill residents like Nanci Kushner can implement strategies to minimize the impact of estate taxes. Irrevocable trusts of various kinds are often utilized, and one of them is the qualified personal residence trust.

To implement this strategy, you convey your home into the trust, but your life is not disrupted. You can continue to live in the home for a period of time that you determine. You name a beneficiary, and after the expiration of this term, which is sometimes called the retained income period, the beneficiary would assume ownership of the home. When you place the home in the trust, you are removing it from your estate for tax purposes, but the transfer to the beneficiary would constitute a taxable gift.

At this point, you may wonder why this is an effective strategy if the transfer is going to be subject to taxation anyway. It is useful because the value of the home for tax purposes will be far less than its actual fair market value. This is because of the retained income period. Let’s say that you remain in the home for 15 years after you establish the trust. No neutral buyer would pay full price for a piece of property that they could not occupy for 15 years, and the IRS adjusts the taxable value of the gift to account for this dynamic. This is a strategy that Cresskill residents like Nanci Kushner who may have estate tax concerns can discuss with their tax advisers.

Characteristics of Great Fitness Instructors

Fitness Instructors

A graduate of Fordham University, Nanci Kushner maintains a strong interest in physical activity. She enjoys boxing and doing Pilates in her free time and served as a Pilates instructor for several years. Originally working as a Pilates instructor at Jumping Frogs Pilates, Nanci Kushner later opened her own gym, NPK Pilates, in Cresskill, New Jersey.

Many people want to become a Pilates or other type of fitness instructor despite having limited experience. Unfortunately, this can make a big difference between a great fitness instructor and one who is just okay. Not only should instructors know about different exercise methods relating to what they teach, they should also understand the science behind why certain exercises work and be aware of ways to change the difficulty of an exercise. Further, great instructors are capable of teaching this information to their clients or referring their clients to others when they don’t know the answer to certain things. This ensures clients always have the tools and resources they need to succeed.

Beyond experience and teaching ability, great fitness instructors are skilled motivators. They are capable of reassuring clients as they learn different exercises and skilled at reading both positive and negative body language. This allows them to provide explanations for exercises without forcing a client to ask about it and makes it easier for instructors to figure out where they should move during a class. Moreover, great instructors are compassionate and keep their exercise classes interesting.

Nanci Kushner: An Overview of Lateral Breathing for Pilates Practitioners

Nanci Kushner

Lateral Breathing
Image: verywell.com

A dedicated Pilates instructor, Nanci Kushner spent two years working with students at Jumping Frogs Pilates in Tenafly, New Jersey. After leaving Jumping Frogs, Nanci Kushner opened NPK Pilates in Cresskill, New Jersey. At NPK, she offered highly personalized instruction for her students.

A major aspect of Pilates is breathing. In Pilates, breath is coordinated with movement, so it is important to understand how to breathe properly. The creator of the practice, Joseph Pilates, thought that individuals breathed too shallowly and thus encouraged deep, full breaths with awareness and focus. Shallow breaths can restrict airflow and increase both stress and feelings of fatigue. The deep breathing of Pilates, on the other hand, oxygenates the blood fully to increase feelings of rejuvenation.

Pilates breathing is called lateral breathing because it causes the ribs to expand into the sides of the body and the back. Individuals breathe in through the nose and out through the mouth. After the ribcage expands to accommodate oxygen, the abdominal muscles should contract during exhalation to push air out of the lungs. Lateral breathing involves inhaling while expanding and lengthening the body and exhaling while bringing muscles back to the body’s center. This type of breathing requires mindfulness and practice.

Nanci Kushner: A Few of the Great Benefits of Boxing for Women

Boxing pic

Boxing

Nanci Kushner formerly served as a Pilates instructor with Jumping Frogs Pilates, then operated her own studio, NPK Pilates. Dedicated to keeping fit, Nanci Kushner can regularly be found working out, and she especially enjoys boxing. Many people think of boxing as a men’s sport, but it has several benefits for women as well.

Since boxing provides a highly repetitive workout, it remains one of the best forms of exercise for toning rather than bulking muscles. Although this is particularly true for muscles of the core and shoulders, it applies to those of the arms, back, chest, and legs, too.

Furthermore, the punching work that boxing requires dramatically improves eye-hand coordination, especially when using speed bags. Because of the fast movement of the speed bag, individuals must react in milliseconds, necessitating the rapid development of basic reflexes.

Many women report that boxing is liberating because it facilitates stress relief in a way that differs from arguably more mindful activities like Pilates. Punching a heavy bag or sparring quickly depletes energy and clears the mind. The exercise is so draining that individuals simply do not have the energy to be stressed.

Nanci Kushner: Should People Rely on Pilates for Weight-Loss Purposes?

Nanci Kushner

Weight-Loss
Image: livestrong.com

Holding a master’s degree in education from Fordham University, Nanci Kushner possesses extensive experience as a Pilates instructor. Nanci Kushner worked for two years as an instructor at Jumping Frogs Pilates and subsequently owned her own Pilates studio. Often, people ask whether Pilates is a good activity for losing weight.

Like yoga, Pilates is not an ideal exercise for losing weight. Both of these forms of exercise have relatively low impact and burn few calories, which means that they typically do not result in significant weight loss alone. Studies have shown that Pilates does not cause significant weight loss or loss of body fat in adults, even after prolonged practice. At the same time, Pilates has a number of benefits that can help people on their road to weight loss.

Pilates helps individuals strengthen their core and improve flexibility, both or which reduce risk of injury. In addition, these factors can help individuals engage in other forms of exercise for longer durations to experience greater benefit. Also, Pilates often involves a gym or health club membership that open doors to other forms of exercise.

Reducing Boxing Injuries

Boxing Injuries pic

Boxing Injuries

The former Pilates instructor and owner of NPK Pilates in New Jersey, Nanci Perle Kushner maintains a strong commitment to physical activity. In addition to practicing Pilates, Nanci Kushner enjoys playing tennis and boxing in her spare time.

As with many contact sports, boxing puts participants at risk for many injuries. Fortunately, most of boxing’s common injuries can be prevented by wearing the proper protective gear. This includes a head guard, along with boxing gloves that are specifically designed for training and sparring. Hand wraps are also important, but they must be used properly to prevent injury. Boxers should begin wrapping their hand when it is completely outstretched and ensure that their wrist, knuckles, and fingers are carefully cushioned. The hand wrap should be firm, but boxers must avoid wrapping too tightly as not to cut off blood flow.

In addition to wearing the right protective gear, boxing injuries can be prevented through routine exercise. Stretching exercises help the muscles and ligaments become longer and can increase a boxer’s range of movement. They also warm up the body before sparring. Meanwhile, strength exercises reduce the risk of lower body and shoulder injuries, and endurance exercises improve stamina and ensure boxers stay agile over longer periods of time.

Nanci Kushner Enjoys Beautiful Grounds and Architecture at Syracuse University

New undergraduate Nanci Kushner would enjoy, in the late 1900’s, “a beautiful town … springing up on the hillside and a community of refined and cultivated membership … established near the spot which will soon be the center of a great and beneficent educational institution.”

Nanci Kushner

Nanci Kushner would also enjoy the academic offerings of Syracuse University in Syracuse, New York of the United States as an undergraduate, and can be proud of the long history of Syracuse University’s coeducational policies. The original President Peck, at the opening ceremony of the university, said, “The conditions of admission shall be equal to all persons… there shall be no invidious discrimination here against woman…. brains and heart shall have a fair chance… “From its inception, Syracuse University enrolled a high proportion of women students, with men and women taught together in the same courses. Extracurricular activities were also coeducational, with women’s only clubs existing alongside others. This stance on the education of women like Nanci Kushner was not universally applauded, however. Some administrators and faculty felt women had inferior minds and could not master subjects in mathematics and the classics. To counter this, the former president of both the University of Michigan and Northwestern University enrolled his daughter Frances at Syracuse, where she helped found the Gamma Phi Beta sorority.

By the late 1800’s Syracuse University of Syracuse, New York in the United States was dedicated to the building up of its new campus, erecting Holden Observatory, the Tolley Administration Building, Crouse College and the Hall of Languages.

Contented wife and mother and impassioned Pilates instructor Nanci Kushner of Cresskill, New Jersey in the United States was born in New York City in New York State but grew up in the much smaller town of Monsey, which is a census-designated region with the larger town of Ramapo in New York State. Monsey itself surrounds in turn the smaller hamlet of Kaser. Growing up in Monsey, Kushner would have been comfortable with the community of orthodox Hasidic Jews which resides in Kaser and its environs, which includes Monsey.

Nanci Kushner

Monsey, New York in the United States, the childhood home of Nanci Kushner, is within Rockland County, an area in the far southeastern point of New York state which was inhabited before the arrival of European settlers by the Munsee tribe of the Lenape Native Americans, part of the Algonquin-speaking natives who occupied the eastern coast of America at that time. Originally, the lands of present-day Monsey held various Indian camps, one of which is the still visible rock shelters of Monsey Glen, an encampment near the intersection of modern roadways State Routes 59 and 306, where many artifacts have been excavated. A traditional Appalachian glen, Monsey railroad station was established in 1841, a derivative of the spelling of the Munsee Lenape Native Americans.

Nanci Kushner Moves From Primary Teaching to Pilates Instruction

Fordham University of Fordham, New York in the United States, the postgraduate institution for Nanci Kushner’s Masters Degree, was established originally as a Jesuit-run, Catholic institution with the highest academic standards, where the academic ideals are Jesuit-based: the principles of cura personalis, or respect for the individual student’s abilities; magis, or the challenging of students to strive for excellence, and homines pro aliis, the principle of service to others, form the driving goals of the academic experience at Fordham. Nanci Kushner Joins Commemorations for PanAm 103

Former undergraduate student Nanci Kushner of Syracuse University in Syracuse, New York of the United States would have often encountered the Memorial Wall, which was dedicated to the 35 Syracuse exchange students killed in the PanAm Flight 103 bombing over Lockerbie, Scotland in 1988. Kushner may have attended the commemorative service held every year in the University chapel at the exact moment of the plane explosion, 2:03pm on December 21. Kushner may also support the University’s Remembrance Scholars program which awards scholarships to 35 senior students every year, and the Lockerbie Scholars program, through which two graduating students from Lockerbie Academy of Lockerbie, Scotland receive a year of study at Syracuse University. Still, the dominant memory of Kushner’s time at Syracuse University will remain the beauty of the Romanesque Revival buildings and the structures designed by architects like I. M. Pei, with the grass quadrangle, landscaped walkways and outdoor sculptures so evocative of the vision of a traditional college campus.

Nanci Kushner

Former Syracuse University undergraduate Nanci Kushner had her first university experience in Syracuse, New York in the United States, where the University sits above the city of over 140,000 residents. Kushner would have benefited as well from the proprietorship of the University over the Drumlins Country Club, a popular 36-hole golf course, the Sheraton Hotel, the Fisher Center and Joseph I. Lubin House in New York City and a retreat in the Adirondack Mountains, the Minnowbrook Conference Center. Kushner likely spent a great deal of her time on the North Campus where the majority of the academic buildings and residence halls are located. Nanci Kushner – How to Find the Right Charity For You

Nanci Kushner is a popular Pilates instructor based in Cresskill, New Jersey. She is married to David Kushner, who is a notable real estate investor and a principal at Paradigm Capital Group in New York City. The couple is known for their frequent charity work, and contribute to many different organizations. Nanci Kushner also volunteers at Englewood Hospital in her spare time. With so many options for charitable contributions, it can be difficult to decide which one is best for you. Here’s how to find a charity you truly click with.

Nanci Kushner

  • Make a list of causes that you feel particularly passionate about and would be interested in contributing to. These can be very broad topics, such as ‘child hunger’ or ‘environmental issues’. Writing these things down will help you develop a starting point for your search.
  • Look for charities that fit into these topics, and really read their mission statements and information about their work to narrow down a few options that you are interested in. Look in particular for charities that are based near you, as this will give you the option to go work with them in person, instead of just giving money.
  • If you can, find exact statistics detailing what the charity does with their donations. Make sure that most of it goes towards actual charity work, instead of just paying salaries or operational costs. Obviously, some of the money will go towards these things, but the majority should go towards the cause that brought you there.
